Poet's Nest - a romantic farmstay in the middle of Valga forests
A while ago I mentioned in Instagram that the map where we mark our visits is rather empty in the Southern Estonia regions and soon enough we were planning a trip to the beautiful Otepää and a cozy Poet’s Nest homestay in the middle of the forest.
Poet’s Nest holiday home is 11km from Otepää and 54km from Tartu. This house was first built in 1885 and has been passed on through generations. The current owner has been spending their summer holdays here for 18 years and has now decided to share it with other people who appreciate the beautiful location and peace as much as they do. Why is it called the Poet's Nest? Because a famous Estonian poet grew up playing in this farm and has also written a poem about it.
This holiday home is perfect for a family vacation and could also accommodate two small families spending their holidays together.
Poet’s Nest is a really cozy and homey and has everything you might need for a comfortable summer vacation. Even with the current heatwave the house itself remained nice and cool.
There is an AC in the living room, but we did not need it at all throughout our stay.
You will also find an old radio in the living room and it still works! But there is a Bluetooth speaker inside, so you can put your favourite summer jam on as well.
Poet’s Nest has one room for kids, a kitchen, a spacious living room with a really nice corner for remote working, and two bedrooms.
The farm also has a modern bathroom and there was even a washing machine in case you are planning for a longer vacation:
In the kitchen you will find any dishes you might need as well as a stove, an oven, a toaster and a dish washer. Keep in mind that the tap water has a slighly odd taste, so it's best to bring some drinking water with you. There is also a French press coffee maker. 
Some of you already asked and yes, there is a sauna house included in the farm, but it is currently out of order.
There is a beautiful forest lake only 400m away - perfect spot for a summer swim! 
And on the other side of the farm there is a Kekkose hiking trail, so you will not be bored in this holiday home ;)
We visited the closest store in Otepää - 15min drive away and there are many more things to do nearby: for example Otepää golf, Pühajärve spa and Sangaste castle are also nearby.
Poet’s Nest family mentioned that they have seen beavers, deers and foxes by the house so I was excited to go for a morning walk by the pond next to the house. And behold - after couple of minutes by the water, three beavers appeared in the water. They were completely unbothered by my exsistance.
It's really cool how much greenery and wild life there is in Estonia. In order to take the best of it, I would recommend to pack some boots and mosquito repellant with you. There are a lot of mosquitos in Estonia this summer, so for a good time, it is best to be prepared :)
There is a spacious terrace in front of the house where you will find a dining table, some lounge chairs and a big barbeque grill. We only cooked with that as it was perfect and overall - food tastes so much better when you are dining outside. 
My personal favourite of the house was this bed. I have never slept under the drapes and was surprised by the effect it had on us - we both felt so hidden and safe in there.
We both agreed that visiting South Estonia feels like visiting South Europe, the nature is so lush, the people are friendly and kind, the weather so warm and calm. Poet’s Nest holiday home made us feel both at home and on a vacation.
