Pihlaka hunting cabin in the midst of forests and sandpits
Above all we love to get invited to vacation homes that we had now heard of before - this way we can have an element of surprise, as well as a chance to show our followers something completely new in Estonia and the house itself ofcourse gets the well deserved attention :)
Pihlaka hunting cabin is located in Viljandi county near Kolga-Jaani. The big scenic fields framed by the colorful forests give you a strong hint on why this area is popular for hunting. 
Initially this vacation home in Estonia was meant for the hunters, but after some renovations it became also a very spacious and cozy holiday home for families, groups of friends or small companies having a good time together.
On the first floow you will find a big room with a well equipt kitchen, a big dining table as well as a cozy living room area with a wide couch and a tv. We could find pretty much everything we needed in the kitchen - a stove, an oven, a coffee machine as well as a kettle, a toaster and a big and spacious fridge.
A mentioned before - on the other side of the room there is a big dining table - perfect for dining together as a bigger group or why not - working remotely.
Ben had several Zoom calls on Friday and he did have some trouble with the internet connection and when we went to our bedroom, we lost the connection completely. We laughed that it's probably the universe telling us to get away from all the screens and actually enjoy the nature around us. On the following days the internet connection was completely fine, so I guess the universe had mercy on us. If you should have any trouble, just restart the router by the entrance.
On the other side of the room there is a big couch where from you can get a cool view to the surrounding nature. We also opened Youtube in the TV to play some background music to make our stay even cozier.
There are two doors next to the couch - one leading to the WC and one leading to the shower room from where you can also access the sauna and the outside terrace with the hot tub. It's the perfect solution - you can literally jump into the pond after the sauna!
Additionally to the hot tub, there is a barbeque grill and a table with chairs on the terrace. 
From both sides of the Pihlaka hunting cabin you can take the stairs to the second floor to access the bedrooms.
There are 4 bedrooms in the Pihlaka vacation home that can accommodate up to 16 people. In every room there is a separate private WC and you can lock the room with a key.
This solution is super comfortable if you are staying over with a bigger group. The party can go on on the first floor, but you can catch some peace and privacy a bit further away.
One of theses stairs leads to a bigger terrace on the second floor - there is a beautiful view to the surroundings and I couldn't help but to think how nice this must be during the summer - perfect spot for tanning!
We actually discussed a lot how nice this holiday home must be during summer as well as in the middle of the winter when there's a thick layer of snow all around.
Next to the Pihlaka hunting house there is a small house called Nõiamaja - "Witch House" - that can also accommodate up to 4 people and includes a small bathroom with a shower.
Combinging the Pihlaka hunting cabin's main house and the Nõiamaja you can accommodate up to 20 people at this location, but I would also recommend it to a group of 6 to 8 - this way there can be 2 people in each room.
The bedrooms are neat and warm, every room includes a AC to warm up the room On the first evening the sound of the AC on the first floor made us feel as if a car is approaching the house, so I would advise to turn it of for the night :) Also we did not close the curtains for the night so that we could look at the stars straight from the bed.
On the second day we went to Kolga-Jaani to get some groceries from Coop store - the closest store is only 10 minute drive away. 
On the way to the store we saw a heard of elks just vibing in someones garden. In the morning I had also seen some sign of deers around the Pihlaka holiday home .
On Sunday morning we were greeted by a low but intense autumn sun that also attracted a pair of swans to come for a swim.
Ignoring the cold we spent our morning on the second floor terrace filming the swans. I was amused by the fact that at home we swans every day when we go for our morning walks in Pirita, but somehow we were now really invested in these swans.
Pihlaka hunting cabin is honestly one really nice and versatile holiday home in Estonia - gather your friends or family and go have a nice time in the middle of the nature. Cook together, have a sauna, jump in the pont and during the summer - go for a swim without anyone else around. And next time you are planning an event - you know a cool place in Viljandi county!
